14-Year-Old Boy Arrested After 12-Year-Old Dies in Birmingham Stabbing

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of a 12-year-old boy in Birmingham.
West Midlands Police reported that the young boy was discovered with severe injuries near Scribers Lane, Hall Green, shortly after 3 PM on Tuesday. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

The victim’s family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers.
This tragic incident occurred on the same day MPs raised concerns about the ineffectiveness of the ban on knife sales to under-18s. Although the sale of knives with fixed blades longer than three inches is illegal in England and Wales, Home Secretary Yvette Cooper pointed out that loopholes still allow minors to purchase knives online.
Cooper mentioned the case of Axel Rudakubana, who managed to order a knife on Amazon at the age of 17, even after being convicted of violence. She assured stronger measures to control online knife sales would be introduced in the upcoming Crime and Policing Bill this spring.
West Midlands Police stated, “We continue to appeal for any information that could assist our investigation. A major incident public portal (MIPP) has been set up for members of the public to submit photos or video evidence.”
Detective Inspector Joe Davenport of the major crime unit said, “We are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses to determine the events and identify those responsible. If you were in the area or captured anything on dashcam or mobile phone, please contact us immediately.”
Police urge anyone with relevant information to use the MIPP or call 101, quoting log 3324 of January 21.
